Twilight Pasture Walk

Press Release

Please come join Steve and Barbara Purcell, at their Brick House Farm, for a twilight pasture walk. The walk will take place on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. The farm is located at 139 Brick House Road, Richfield Springs, New York 13439. Steve rotationally grazes over forty mature beef cows on his farm. Steve and Barb have worked closely with the Otsego Soil & Water Conservation District and Natural Resource Conservation Service. A covered barnyard, spring development, pasture watering system and riparian forest buffer have been implemented on their farm.

Steve will discuss how these improvements to his farm have improved his grazing operation and his economic bottom line. We will complete a pasture conditioning score sheet on his paddocks. Grazers will learn how to score their own pastures and pin point areas where improvements can be made. Jessica Miller, Planning Technician for the Otsego County Soil and Water Conservation District, will fly our newly acquired drone and discuss its applications to agriculture. Join us for a fun filled evening with Steve and Barb. Refreshments will be served.

RSVP by September 14, 2018 if you are planning on attending. Please call (607) 547-8337, RSVP on our Facebook event, or by using the sign up form below.
