Before the chestnut blight, 1904-1950, the American Chestnut tree was prevalent in the forests of the eastern United States. Their nuts provided food for humans and wildlife.
A blight resistant strain has been and continues to be researched in several programs throughout the United States. Meadowview’s seed is harvested from mature healthy American Chestnut trees, but is not considered blight resistant.
